My writing and editing career is long and varied. It includes:
- Five years working for a self-publishing company based out of Victoria, B.C. during which I edited almost 100 books (2018 to 2023).
- Co-writing a 'how to save the world' book (2022).
- Contract article writing for an interior design firm in Alberta (2022 to 2023).
- A 30-year communications career with the provincial government writing and editing material ranging from news releases, to web copy, to technical reports (until 2020).
- Creating a screenplay that won a local competition and was optioned (1998).
- Writing and reporting for newspapers and magazines (early in my career, less-so these days).
Work Terms
I work two to four hours per day depending on my schedule, more if there is a looming deadline. Here are my rates:
- Developmental editing: $.08 per word
- Basic copyediting: $.018 per word
- Proofreading: $.0113 per word
- Ghost- or co-writing: $.35 per word
