Hire an IT expert with small business understanding
Hello,
I've worked for almost 20 years in IT roles starting as a network administrator for the UK branch of an international Japanese engineering company. I went on to create and lead a software development department for this UK branch and created industrial products that were sold worldwide in automotive and semiconductor industries.
I decided on a change of focus and moved on to become an IT manager for a company that provides care to the elderly in their own homes. With 6 offices across England there was a lot of work to modernise their IT infrastructure. The company also develop a software product they use to manage their business and it is sold to other care companies across the UK. My role included management of the software development and technical support of this software product.
I have found a particular strength in leveraging open source software and adding bespoke software to provide the companies I have worked for with an enterprise level technical capability for a very small cost.
There is now much excitement for the future with the move in technology to use of containers and cloud services through Docker, Amazon AWS and Kubernetes and I have successfully used all of these for real business solutions
