Historian, Genealogist, Researcher, Tour Guide

I'm an academically qualified Irish historian, and have pursued an interest in Irish heritage, history, archaeology, culture and genealogy for many years. I'm also a professionally qualified tour guide for the Cork/Kerry region in Ireland, and a non-practising Solicitor (lawyer).

My interests have involved much research, and numerous visits to Irish archival sources and repositories. While helping people ‘find their Irish roots’, I have found many wish to delve into the history, heritage and culture of their ancestors. I have been fortunate to be able to help with this, as it’s something I’m personally interested in, have grown up with, and always wish to share my ‘on the ground’ Irish knowledge with others.

Access:
I can immediately access Cork City Library (Local Studies); Cork County Library (Local Studies); Cork City and County Archives; University College Cork (Boole Library and Special Collections). At short notice I can access libraries and archive services within the wider Munster region (counties Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford). With reasonable notice I can access other libraries and archives throughout the wider Ireland region, to include Dublin. I am also acutely familiar with online Irish based, publicly accessible records.

Credentials:
MA Degree in Local History (First Class) - National University of Ireland; Advanced Certificate in Local and Regional Guiding (awarded distinction) Failte Ireland/Kerry ETB; awarded Certificate in Care and Maintenance of Local Heritage - West Cork Development Partnership; enrolled on Roll of Irish Solicitors, February 1994; awarded Bachelor of Civil Law Degree (Honours) - National University of Ireland.

Member of Genealogical Society of Ireland, Irish Genealogical Research Society, Cork Genealogical Society, Cork Historical and Archaeological Society.

Work Terms

My standard rate is $40 per hour. Rate amount may vary and/or be negotiable, depending on the scale of research and work involved in a project.
