About

Whether you’re planning to self publish, or you'd like to submit to literary agents I’ll work closely with you to make your book the best it can be.

Until recently, I was the assistant to the editor-in-chief at W. W. Norton & Company in New York. I also served as the awards coordinator for Norton and Liveright, Norton's imprint. In these capacities I have had the pleasure of working with authors as varied as Michael Lewis, Larry McMurtry, Miss Manners, Paul Krugman, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Richard Powers, and Mary Roach among many, many others. I'm perhaps most proud of my work on John Lahr's National Book Award-nominated biography of Tennessee Williams.

I have several years of copyediting experience. I’m well-versed in both Chicago Manual and AP styles. Most recently I have been doing freelance editing work for HarperCollins. While I was comfortable working within the framework of Norton’s literary pedigree, my freelance work has been mostly in the area of genre fiction--especially romance and thrillers. I also do a steady word-of-mouth business editing unpublished authors who need help preparing to submit to agents.

Before going to work at Norton, I spent time at two successful literary agencies (Writers House and Browne & Miller), where I came to understand what agents look for in submitted manuscripts. In addition, these agencies taught me the ins and outs of structural editing. I have also done work for the Book Report Network, where I was in charge of editing online reviews.

I hold a master’s degree in American literature from the University of Chicago, and I graduated summa cum laude from West Texas A&M University with a 4.0 GPA. I received a perfect 800 score on the language portion of the GRE.
