About

Highly experienced and versatile writer

I have been a writer for many years and have written in many forms, including fiction (short stories and novels), nonfiction (academic articles), playwriting, p.r., radio news copy, artist interviews. I have several university degrees covering two major areas: creative writing and historical linguistics: B.A. in Cinema Production from the University of Southern California, M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College in New York; under a Special Student Status to work on the undeciphered script Linear A, I spent four years at Cambridge University reading Historical Linguistics and Archaeology over several departments under the aegis and supervision of the world authorities on the Linear A & B scripts, Professors John Chadwick and John Killen and followed that by earning a M.A. in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, emphasizing ancient South Asian linguistics and archaeology at the University of Pennsylvania. I was invited to be a playwright-in-residence at the Dramatic Risks Theatre in New York City (Manhattan), during which time I was written up in the New York Daily News as an up and coming playwright and was nominated for the Pushcart Prize for Fiction by Nexus Magazine in Chicago for three short stories. I have had twenty-one short stories and two novels published in the U.S. and U.K. My academic articles on the Indus Valley script and the Linear B script as well as one play can be read by going to www.academia.edu and typing in my name, Kate Price. I was a radio news writer/announcer for two radio stations in Oklahoma and a talk radio station in Napa, California and assistant editor and guest editor on two academic journals, the Epigraphic Society Occasional Papers in Boston and the SAVICOM Newsletter at U.S.C. in Los Angeles. I have also written p.r. copy for small businesses, usually in the form of descriptions for brochures. I am a very accurate, swift and eloquent writer, with an exceptional command of the written English language.
