My name is Katie I use she/her pronouns and I'm a freelance developmental editor for self-publishing and aspiring authors!
I graduated Emerson College with a Bachelor's degree in Writing, Literature, and Publishing (as well as minors in History and Environmental Studies). I'm a writer, so of course reading is my favorite pastime. I'm a fantasy nerd by nature, and that includes movies and TV. I love trees and a good cup of tea and live mainly on salt and vinegar chips. But mostly, fiction is my passion. Fiction has been an obsession of mine since the moment I learned how to read. My imagination is about as wild as they come and I love getting the chance to peek into someone else’s for a while. Reading a new story is like letting the author give me a tour of one corner of their imagination. Like most people already know, it’s a welcome escape from a stressful world, but it’s also more than that. It’s the ability to create entire new spaces, new people to care for, new tragedies to weep over, new adventures to witness. Fiction is extraordinary and infinite. I would love the chance to help as many authors as I can bring their stories into the world.
Work Terms
You can contact me through email at kate.lacadie@gmail.com any time of the day, and I will answer within 24 hours. Depending on the genre, I generally work by the word. $0.03-$0.05 per word or $50-$80/hour on a case by case basis. I can work with authors publishing serially (generally a chapter a week) or work on an entire novel at once. Novels under 100,000 words will take about a month, anything over that and we'd have to discuss timelines. I will write in-line comments through Word or Google Docs no matter what, and we can discuss meetings over Zoom or a comprehensive editor's letter.
