Accountable for the success of your project. Executing and Closing Projects — on time and in budget. Strong bias for organization.
I am an avid hiker, a certified CPR, AED and First Aid instructor for the American Red Cross, have a severe case of wanderlust. I have a passion for human development and a bias for organization and believe in the power of relationships to transform lives.
My first foray into advocacy took place in elementary school and continued through my college career. I pursued a dual degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science from CSU Bakersfield.
At 18 I was instrumental in the opening of a state of the art, 75,000 square foot recreation facility on the CSU Bakersfield campus. I was responsible for policy, procedure and staff development. I stayed with this organization for six years.
At 20 I attended the Panetta Institute for Public Policy developed and hosted by the United States Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. I had the privilege to study numerous leadership styles from notable coaches, politicians, and advocates. Moving through elected positions, I became the first Arab-American to be elected as President/ CEO of the Associated Students Inc., CSU Bakersfield’s student government and a multi-million non-profit at 21. During my tenure, I played a key role in the academic calendar conversion from quarter to a semester calendar and the passage of resolutions that improved student life.
After graduation, I was offered a professional position that allowed me to continue to impact student wellness, enhance the college experience and mentor students. Shortly after I decided to challenge myself further and move away from a path that I had followed for the greater part of my adult years and take on a position in the manufacturing field as a project manager.
Though my interests are forever evolving, one thing remains the same: The desire to contribute to something larger than myself.
