Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading
I am a career educator and freelance writing and educator with a B.A. in English, an M.Ed. in Secondary Education, an M.A. in School Administration, and a love of the English language. I have taught English writing to students of all ages and ability levels for 18 years. I'm a skilled editor of contemporary romance manuscripts and am able to detect and revise weak AI content, identify and correct logic problems, and revise for appropriate tone and voice. I have an exceptional command of English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and mechanics, I am familiar with CMOS, and I am skilled in using Track Changes in Microsoft Word.
I am known professionally for my integrity, amazing work ethic, and communication skills. I have yet to meet a deadline that got the better of me, and I am prompt and responsive in working with clients. I can proofread a 50-70k word manuscript in four days. I have experience doing copy and developmental editing for many romance manuscripts. On those projects, I was able to do full edits on 30k word manuscripts in 2-3 days. Those drafts were filled with poor AI content and required a lot of revision, not just proofreading and error correction. This client said in my review, "It's wonderful to work with Mary Ann! Work Terms
I do my freelance work primarily on evenings and weekends. I love to be busy. I am open to negotiating fees and can divide up projects into established milestones or deliver a completed project before payment. I am an excellent, prompt communicator, and I'm very flexible.
