I am an award-winning journalist, content specialist and communications leader with nearly 20 years of experience in the media, publishing and advertising industries.

I've been a reporter, copy editor, page designer, graphic designer, photographer, night city editor, business editor, Web editor, news editor, marketing copywriter, publishing production manager, journal production manager and managing editor. I have worked for newspapers; magazines; niche publications; advertising and marketing agencies; and an international publishing company specializing in printing journals for professional societies and organizations. I also have extensive experience in digital communications and in developing and integrating editorial management systems.

In conjunction with his design and management experience, I have had a hand in redesigning five newspapers, including one almost entirely on my own. In 2007, I earned an MDDC Press Association award for page one design while working for the second-largest newspaper in Maryland. I also won a Nebraska Press Association award in 2016 for new news idea while working for Nebraska’s largest weekly newspaper.

A magna cum laude graduate of Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa., I majored in English while pursuing my BA. I gained my first experience at a newspaper as the layout editor for the college’s student-run weekly, The Holcad.
