I've worked with clients in a wide variety of industries, many of whom were non-native English speakers. I'm excellent at spotting tricky spelling and grammar mistakes and improving word choice, sentence structure, and flow while preserving my clients' unique voices. Many of my clients have great ideas they want to share with the world but lack the writing skills to convey them properly. Some speak English as a second language and want their writing to sound like that of a native English speaker. Others are busy entrepreneurs who are capable of writing high-quality pieces but don't have the time, so they quickly throw something down on paper and give it to me to polish before it goes public.
I make thorough edits instead of simply fixing mistakes. I strengthen my clients' writing by optimizing word choice and sentence structure, organizing the flow of ideas, eliminating redundancy, maintaining a consistent style, and more. I use the "track changes" feature so my clients can see all the adjustments I made to their documents. I can usually provide quick turnaround on projects and my clients are always impressed with the quality of my work.
I was an editor of my high school newspaper, wrote for the yearbook, was president of the Spanish club, and graduated in the top ten percent of my class. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I've taken creative writing and journalism courses. I'm familiar with APA, MLA, and Chicago Style, and I often use clients' custom style guides. I briefly worked as a tutor in ESL (English as a second language) for a Mandarin-speaking client.
