Since 2004 I have worked as a professional transcriber. I began as an employee of Tim Hills, the great historian. I mainly have experience transcribing recordings of oral history interviews, but I will gladly tackle any subject. I provide 99% accuracy.
Work Terms
I transcribe and proofread at the rate of 1 hour of audio per workday. I proofread each document thrice (three times). I use Microsoft Word. I use Google to look up the correct spelling of unfamiliar names and terms, plus Microsoft Word's built-in spell-check feature. Because of my thoroughness, which results in 99% accuracy, it takes me 9 hours to transcribe and proof-read 1 hour of audio. At the rate of $13.33 per hour, this ends up amounting to a cost of $120 per audio hour.
