About

I love what I do. I love design but I most enjoy building meaningful ongoing relationships with my clients, and I achieve this by rendering the most generous service I can muster

(I have been a member of Guru.com for some time now, but haven't had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time networking or bidding for jobs on the site, until I started working as a freelancer full time in August 2016)

From a very young age I would create characters and comic strips, motor vehicles, space travel vehicles and I would visualize on paper anything I happened to be day dreaming about at the time.

When I became aware that Industrial Design was a career option it became blatantly obvious that this is what I would do for a living. I studied Industrial Design at the University of Johannesburg from 2006 till the end of 2009. After University, I started my career doing small freelance design jobs for individuals and local businesses for approximately 5 months before being offered a full-time job. During this time was when I discovered Guru.com. (my account has been largely inactive as I have been employed full-time since then)

Since then I have had the privilege of working with and for a number of diverse companies and individuals, and enjoy an increasingly wide knowledge base of production processes, industry practices and market trends.

Although I have been employed full-time by 3 different companies for the past 7 years, I have done a fair amount of freelance work in my spare time. A big part of my love for freelancing, is meeting diverse and interesting people and building good work relationships. I believe in putting myself out there and doing the best work I can possibly muster to build good mutually beneficial partnerships. My intention for the outcome of the work I do for my clients is nothing short of excellence.

I live on the West coast of South Africa, and enjoy surfing, mountain biking and the occasional indoor football game. I love the outdoors and aim to do a great deal of traveling in the near future (another big benefit to freelancing)!

I look forward to meeting you!

Work Terms

I'm a full-time freelance designer and currently provide a design service to a number of clients abroad as well as locally (in South Africa). I Charge per hour for short reverts and per day and per week for larger projects (please see my skills page for rates).
Due to the fact that I have ongoing relationships with a number of clients, my availability at any given time is subject to weather or not I am working on a project, and thus prefer to negotiate timings and availability before agreeing on a deadline.

Once I understand the full scope of work to be done, I will provide you with a quotation that is accurate to 15% more or 15% less to the final invoice. I will only commence the billable work once the quotation has been approved. For larger projects, I will request milestone payments at various stages of the design process.

Ideally, I like to meet my clients in person, but for long distance correspondence I have found that video calls are the most productive means of communication. I have often used Skype, but will recommend that we use Google hangouts, as it has added features such as screen-sharing, which have proven to be beneficial in the past.
