As a professional trainer for over 20 years, I have designed and delivered training materials for both specific, measurable skills and less tangible soft skills. For example, I have written the "hard" skills of how to access and navigate new or revised software programs in business and healthcare settings. For "soft" skills training I created multiple modules for customer care employees including, time and stress management strategies. I've also developed needs assessments and post-training evaluation tools. My industry experience is from the military; homebuilding; veterans healthcare; and, outdoor recreation. So, basically, I can write from a variety of perspectives. I'm accustomed to working with subject matter experts (SMEs) or gathering necessary information on my own. I have personally developed training programs for the military, business and for the Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system. The depth and breadth of the programs is expansive. Training programs for the military included intelligence training sessions in the areas of subversion and espionage. In the business realm, I have created and delivered training in Total Quality Management (TQM), a precursor to ISO 9000; professional development; customer service; recruiting; audio/visual equipment usage; and, video production. Within the VA, I created multiple training programs including scenarios, simulations, self-assessments and instructor-led training. Topics addressed included scheduling, registration, insurance, performance, records management and software navigation. Training materials I have created include needs assessments; handouts; PowerPoint presentations; spreadsheets; reports; evaluation; and, facilitator guides.
