Premium writer, journalist and editor with articles published in FT, New Statesman, New York Times, NPR, YaleGlobal, others. Veteran AP features editor and foreign correspondent.
I am an independent writer with commentary and features published in Financial Times, New Statesman, New York Times, YaleGlobal, Oxford Today, NPR and others. I am also an experienced business journalist, currently serving as Japan technology, media and telecoms writer for S&P Global Market Intelligence. Before going solo, I was the AP's London-based European enterprise editor for more than a decade, in charge of all premium content for a region ranging from Britain to Kazakhstan. Today, I divide my time between Europe and Asia. I am an expert at analytical insight, stylish feature writing and sharp, efficient editing. I grew up in California in a Japanese household and have lived in France, Italy, Switzerland, Britain and Japan. I graduated from Oxford University with a First Class Degree (top honors) in Modern Languages -- and am fluent in French, Italian and Japanese. I am currently based in Piran, Slovenia. An avid long-distance runner, I have completed four marathons (best time: 3 hrs 28 min.) I am passionate about the environment, wildlife, education and child welfare. My other personal interests are food, wine, literature, travel, art, theater and cinema.
