Started out in the graphic design field after graduating with a BS degree with a concentration on illustration. I spent over 15 years designing ads but was fortunate to become a freelance illustrator once I started a family. Since then I've spent over 10 years designing greeting cards and illustrating numerous books through independent, self and educational publishers. I'm still taking online children's Illustration courses because there's always more to learn.I work from home using Adobe Photoshop and traditional watercolor and well as Adobe Illustrator. Freelance with a contract that both parties agree upon prior to beginning any work. On large projects I request 1/3 up front. 1/3 when sketches are approved and the final 1/3 upon receipt of final art. I am comfortable with a flat fee for a project or working at a rate $40 an hour. Work will done for one product only, ie; book, poster. If my work is to be used for other things using a character I created under contract an agreed upon additional fee will have to be agreed upon by both parties.I like to spend a lot of time in the beginning concept part of a job to secure that my client is happy with the look, style, color palette and basic feel of the characters so the rest goes smoothly with out changes midway.
