Documentation guru and technical content writer

I am a freelance technical writer, specializing in software development documentation, including manuals, specifications, process flows and quick start guides. As a freelancer, I am able to take the load off businesses that are not ready to employ writers by providing virtual assistance, or by taking some of the work load off the shoulders of in-house writers. I am currently looking for new exciting clients with lots of work while simultaneously preparing training material for my own personal projects.

I have a (legacy Cobol/ Pl1) programming and technical writing background, and journalism degree. I went from a programming career to a technical writing career by fluke, being offered a job writing help guides for property management software for a company I had applied to for a programming job. The unexpected opportunity to combine my career interests was an incredible ‘luck’, combining both my career interests. My most recent full-time position was for a leading mobile solutions provider in the New Product Development department (requirements documents, specifications, process flows, meeting minutes, marketing material, developer and client manuals, testing software). Before that I worked for a company specializing in online training software for corporate companies (user manuals, testing, software proposals, training material).

I am able to work independently and describe complex ideas and processes simply, even on subjects I may initially know nothing about, and have learned to work remotely efficiently.

Work Terms

I am available during GMT+2 working hours, including weekends. I prefer to communicate via Email but am happy to liaise via Skype or TeamViewer.
