About

Your message at its very best

I’ve been writing, editing, proofreading, interviewing, researching, and fact-checking professionally for twenty-nine years. I graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing. I’m an award-winning newspaper reporter and an experienced medical, dental, and healthcare marketing writer, having worked with physicians, dentists, chiropractors, and other healthcare professionals in a wide range of specialties. Writing isn’t a hobby or side hustle for me; it’s my full-time occupation.

I’m proud of my five-star rating for the quality of my work and client service. I look forward to assisting more clients across the country and around the world with their writing, editing, and proofreading needs.

My goal is to help my clients present themselves and their products or services to their target audience in the best possible light. I understand the importance of working with clients closely to achieve their goals, and I understand the importance of meeting deadlines.

As a writer, I pride myself on working with clients who know what they want to say but don't know how to say it, and delivering clean, clear, concise, and engaging copy.

As an editor, I have a knack for finding mistakes other editors miss.

As a proofreader, I excel at scrutinizing proofs to ensure they’re clean and ready for submission or self-publication.

In addition to my career as a freelance writer and editor, I also have a creative side. Earlier in my life, I was active in the Tampa Bay area as an arts organization manager and booker, emcee, performer, and recording artist. Scrapbook, my debut music and poetry CD, was released in 1998 and was followed by Thoughts From Seclusion in 2000, All Things To All People in 2003, and Drive in 2006.

I enjoy cooking, collecting CDs and DVDs, dining out, rooting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and continuing my quest for the perfect glass of iced tea.

Work Terms

Hiring a freelancer you’ve never met can be a concern, so I make that leap of faith easier. I’m happy to meet with you via Zoom or MS Teams for a quick, 10-minute chat to talk about your project and how I might help you with it.

Finding your way around the Guru.com platform can be confusing when you’re new to it. I’ll help you through the process of approving an Agreement and depositing funds into the SafePay account prior to starting work on your project.

Once you’re familiar with Guru, you’ll find that it’s easy to communicate with me, send and receive files, and keep track of milestones. All of that makes for an easy, stress-free partnership for both of us!

Here are other important things to know about working with me:

I work only with Employers who agree to use SafePay. This is Guru’s escrow account, which provides mutual protection and peace of mind to Employers and Freelancers.

I prefer to communicate via the Workroom Message Board.

I work Monday through Friday – 9:00am to 5:00pm EST – but my availability on Tuesday and Thursday is very limited. However, I respond to most Guru Message Board posts within a few hours (keeping in mind time zone differences), so don't hesitate to write with any questions or updates.

Honest feedback from Employers is appreciated and will be reciprocated with honest feedback to Employers.

Code of Ethics – I strive to deal openly and honestly with my Employers. I expect the same in return. I meet my Employers’ deadlines. In return, I expect my Employers to release the agreed-upon funds at the agreed-upon time. Each project is a team effort. My Employer can expect me to live up to my responsibilities in completing the Employer’s project. I expect the Employer (and the Employer’s employees or agents) to live up to their responsibilities in completing the project.

Objectionable Material – I reserve the right to decline working on material that in my sole judgment is offensive, objectionable, unethical, or illegal.
