Business Management & Operations Consultant

CAREER PROFILE
Stylianos (Stelios) Kapourniotis
Introductory Remarks
From a very early age as an heir-apparent to my family’s sizeable assets, which at the time (1960s-1980s) consisted of a flour-mill and a spaghetti factory in Volos/Central Greece, I grew accustomed to managerial ineptitude and family feuding, facts that culminated to both factories demise, just about 60 years after they were founded. Thankfully, having somehow guessed the way things would end up, I proceeded in obtaining good formal education and real-life factory experience in both Greece and the UK. My plan was to become a “company doctor”, a term nowadays referred to as a consultant, which, in my mind at the time, consisted initially of the learning of the mechanical aspect (hence a degree in Mech.Eng.), followed by the remaining “soft” (as they were then thought of) parts, regarding the production support functions. Thus, UK management degrees followed, as well as numerous training positions in various companies, either in a permanent or a project role; I have always felt that the latter was and still is “phase 3” of my long-term plan.
Core Competencies
My main areas of expertise would be within the Production-Logistics and Quality functions; I consider myself a “tangible value-adding” professional, i.e. applying solid manufacturing techniques to processes that, in whatever shape or form, add value to the product or service produced or provided.
