Born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, Valentina has shown a natural interest and aptitude for the arts since childhood. She spent her early years making handicrafts, paintings and sketches of the world around her and her inner universe. From her grandmothers, she learned how to embroider, knit and sew. This attraction to textiles inspired her to study Fashion Design at ORT university in Montevideo, including a semester abroad at Universidad de Buenos Aires.
After graduation, she spent a season in New York, interning at Vera Wang, contributing to the sales and design departments, where she could get a glimpse of how the global fashion industry works.
Shortly thereafter, she returned to Uruguay, where she began working as a designer at Zingara Swimwear, an international swimwear and beachwear brand with more than 50 stores all over Mexico, Latin America and some of the US.
There, she got to combine several aspects of her dream life: design and travel. Sand and ocean are her natural environment. There she got an accute sense of the nuances of beach and swimwear.
After 6 years rising at Zingara, she opened her independent design studio. She now partners with different brands helping them, not only to design, but also to manage productions overseas and locally. A fierce environmentalist, Valentina emphasizes sustainable alternatives in her designs to improve the final offer to her clients, and take the necessary precautions in maintaining a healthy planet.
