2D EPISODIC CHARACTER ANIMATION

Paid Development Opportunity with Long-Term Potential

IMPORTANT: Applicants must read the attached “Request for Suitable Applicants” PDF before responding. It contains the complete project requirements, required portfolio information, questions that must be answered, and a submission checklist.

REQUIRED SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Your proposal MUST begin with the exact words:

Challenging Tofu

Failure to follow this instruction may result in your proposal being discarded without review. Attention to written specifications and production details is an important part of our evaluation.

THE PROJECT

Reese Halden LLC is developing an original, character-driven 2D animated comedy property with the potential to become an ongoing episodic series.

The project is currently in creative development. Because the underlying intellectual property is not yet public, this posting intentionally does not disclose the premise, characters, settings, or storylines.

An NDA/confidentiality agreement will be required before proprietary project materials are disclosed.

We are seeking an experienced professional animator or, preferably, a small established animation team capable of developing a consistent, reproducible visual style and production pipeline suitable for recurring episodic animation.

Required capabilities include character design/development, model sheets and turnarounds, reusable rigs, environments, storyboarding, animatics, dialogue/lip-sync, character acting, comedic and emotional performance, animation, and reusable production assets. Experience animating humans and animals/quadrupeds is highly desirable.

Character acting is particularly important. We need characters who convincingly perform, using expression, movement, reactions, timing, dialogue, and physical comedy—not simply attractive illustrations that move.

PAID INITIAL COMMISSION

This posting is exploratory, but the initial selected commission is real and paid.

We are not requesting free concept art, free animation tests, speculative work, unpaid samples, or work solely in exchange for possible future revenue.

Successful initial development work may lead to pilot/episode production and potentially a long-term, multi-episode relationship.

REQUIRED PORTFOLIO

Applicants must provide at least THREE (3) specific examples of relevant completed work demonstrating 2D narrative character animation.

For each, identify your role, your team's role if applicable, production software/pipeline, and whether it was part of recurring or episodic production. Material use of AI-generated/assisted content must be disclosed.

Generic portfolio links alone are insufficient.

BEFORE SUBMITTING

The attached PDF is the complete project specification and includes technical requirements, production workflow, source-file requirements, IP/confidentiality provisions, communication expectations, evaluation criteria, required questions, and a detailed submission checklist.

Read the accompany, attached requirements and  specification PDF completely and thoroughly before responding.

We are seeking more than someone who can complete one animation. We want a professional creative collaborator/team capable of helping establish a distinctive, consistent, sustainable animated property for potential long-term production.

And remember:

Your proposal must begin with “Challenging Tofu.”
