I have a 3D mesh file in .ply format generated from a scan of a patient’s lower abdomen and upper legs. The raw scan includes artifacts from the table surface and needs to be professionally cleaned and converted into a print-ready model for an extrusion-based 3D printer.
Project Requirements
The final model must meet all of the following:
Fully watertight mesh (no holes, no non-manifold edges).
Simplified/optimized geometry while maintaining overall anatomical shape.
Completely flat base suitable for stable printing.
Scaled or trimmed to fit within 12" x 10" x 10" build volume.
Hollow interior with uniform wall thickness ≤ 3 mm.
Removal of scan artifacts, especially the table surface.
Final deliverable in STL or OBJ, ready for slicing.
Context
This model is for a medical device prototyping project. The shape is a static anatomical scan; no artistic sculpting is needed—just proper mesh repair, hollowing, cleanup, simplification, and print preparation.
