About the Role

EYL365 Project is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Advanced Crochet Instructor to lead a fun, structured, and engaging 10-week after-school crochet workshop for 4th–5th grade students. This program is designed to build advanced crochet skills while encouraging creativity, confidence, and teamwork. The program will conclude with a student Showcase, where students present their final crochet creations.

Responsibilities

● Teach advanced crochet techniques in a workshop-style classroom setting

● Develop weekly lessons that build skill progression over 10 weeks

● Support students in completing projects and improving technique

● Create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment

● Maintain inventory of materials and communicate supply needs

● Prepare students for a final Showcase presentation

● Submit brief weekly recaps and attendance counts (simple reporting)

Required Qualifications

● Strong crochet skills and experience teaching crochet (youth experience preferred)

● Ability to manage and engage a classroom of students ages 9–11

● Reliable, punctual, and professional communication

● Patient, positive, and supportive teaching style

● Ability to adapt instruction for different skill levels

Preferred Qualifications

● Prior experience teaching after-school programs or youth workshops

● Experience creating crochet lesson plans and beginner-to-advanced progressions

● Background in arts education, design, or youth development

Materials

This program will use crochet materials (yarn, hooks, basic tools). Materials may

be provided or reimbursed based on instructor needs and program budget.

EYL 365 Project Youth Educators are highly skilled artists and educators, committed to creating equitable learning spaces through collaborative teaching practices and social justice pedagogy. They report directly to the Program Director and are supported by EYL 365 Project Department Heads and Program Coordinators. They work closely with classroom teachers, school administrators, and teaching artists to positively impact school communities.
