Summary

Project Overview: I'm seeking experienced freelancer to design and prototype a 76–81 GHz mmWave radar board based on TI’s AWR2944. The radar needs to detect objects from 0.2m up to over 400m to provide range and velocity information. This project will modify and extend TI’s existing reference design — using the AWR2944EVM and the mmWave MCU+ SDK—to meet 0.2m ~ 400+m performance requirements.

Scope of Work:

1. Schematic & PCB Layout:

o Adapt and modify from reference hardware design to achieve a 0.2m–400+ meter detection range.

o Incorporate best practices for RF design at 76–81 GHz.

o Experience with low-cost prototype fabrication (PCBWay or JLCPCB) is essential.

2. Prototype Manufacturing:

o Oversee PCB fabrication and assembly (PCBA) of prototypes at PCBWay or JLCPCB.

o Ensure the produced boards match the design requirements.

3. Firmware Programming:

o Develop and integrate the radar’s firmware using TI’s mmWave MCU+ SDK tools.

o Validate radar performance (distance measurement, accuracy, etc.) and optimize for my range requirements.

4. Testing & Verification:

o Verify that the final prototypes function correctly and achieve the stated performance.

o Debug and troubleshooting as needed.

5. Final Deliverables:

o Six (6) Working Prototypes that meet the 0.2m–400+ meter detection requirement.

o Test report on the delivered six (6) working prototypes on how it meets the requrement.

o Hardware Design Files: Schematic, PCB layout, BOM, Gerber files.

o Firmware & Software Files: All needed source code and build scripts to reproduce the test result.

o Documentation: Clear, step-by-step instructions to replicate the setup, compile the firmware, and validate radar performance.

Compensation & Payment Terms:

• Total Development Fee: $2500 (paid after receiving fully functional prototypes and design files).

• Prototype Costs: I'll fund PCB/PCBA fabrication costs (through PCBWay or JLCPCB) upon receiving valid invoices.

Important Notes:

• No Upfront Payment for Development: Due to past bad experiences with non-functional hardware design deliverables by freelancers, full payment (development fee + EVM reimbursement) will only be released after I receive and validate working prototypes.

• Quality & Reliability: Applicant will be responsible for ensuring the schematic, PCB layout, and firmware are correct. I don’t expect design effort on my end.

• Required Experience:

o Proven track record with radar designs (24 GHz, 60 GHz, 70+ GHz, etc.).

o Embedded systems programming, particularly with TI MCU+DSP devices, or similar platforms.

o Familiarity with low-cost PCB manufacturing processes.

How to Apply:

1. Highlight Relevant Experience: Include past projects or relevant radar designs you’ve completed.

2. Approach & Timeline: Provide a brief outline of how you plan to complete the project and your estimated turnaround time.

3. Reference Checks: Be prepared to show proof of successful mmWave PCB designs you’ve done previously. Best with high quality photo images of real hardware boards.
