Job Type: One-time, fixed-price independent contractor assignment
Compensation: $150
Location: Southeast Ohio (Monroe & Washington Counties)
Assignment
GrantWorks is seeking local independent contractors to obtain basic photographic documentation of publicly funded construction projects.
This is a photography/documentation assignment only. Contractors are not being hired to inspect construction, evaluate workmanship, determine regulatory or grant compliance, supervise contractors, or perform construction-related work.
Assignments typically require approximately 10–15 clear photographs per site showing the current condition or completed improvements at a specified project location.
What You'll Do
Travel independently to the provided project location.
Take clear photographs from publicly accessible or otherwise authorized locations.
Photograph the overall project and specific features identified in the assignment instructions.
Provide photographs showing the project from multiple viewpoints when reasonably possible.
Submit original, unedited photographs electronically to GrantWorks.
Complete a brief confirmation identifying the date and approximate time the photographs were taken.
Notify GrantWorks if requested photographs cannot be obtained safely or from an authorized location.
Important Safety Requirements
You are not expected or authorized by GrantWorks to enter an active, restricted, barricaded, or hazardous construction area.
Contractors must:
Remain in publicly accessible or specifically authorized areas.
Observe posted signs, barricades, access restrictions, traffic controls, and instructions from the property owner or construction contractor.
Never climb fences, barriers, structures, equipment, ladders, or other objects to obtain a photograph.
Never enter excavations, trenches, confined spaces, active equipment areas, or other locations that appear unsafe.
Never operate or interfere with construction equipment or construction activities.
Never place yourself in traffic or another unsafe location to obtain a photograph.
Stop the assignment if conditions appear unsafe.
No photograph is important enough to justify entering an unsafe or restricted area. If a requested photograph cannot safely and lawfully be obtained, simply report that to GrantWorks.
If access beyond a publicly accessible area is required, the contractor must receive appropriate authorization from the property owner or entity controlling the site before entering. GrantWorks' assignment does not itself constitute permission to enter restricted property.
Scope of Your Role
The contractor's responsibility is limited to obtaining and transmitting photographic documentation.
You are not responsible for:
Construction inspection
Construction quality control
Safety inspection
Grant or regulatory compliance monitoring
Determining percentage of construction completion
Verifying quantities or measurements
Evaluating contractor performance
Directing construction personnel
Identifying or correcting safety hazards
Representing GrantWorks in discussions concerning project performance or compliance
GrantWorks personnel will review the photographs and make any monitoring, compliance, construction-progress, or other professional determinations.
Independent Contractor Relationship
This is a fixed-price independent contractor assignment and not an offer of employment.
The contractor:
Determines whether to accept or decline each assignment.
Determines when to complete the assignment within the specified completion window.
Provides their own transportation, smartphone/camera, cellular service, and other ordinary equipment.
Is responsible for their own travel and other expenses unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
Is free to perform services for other businesses and clients.
Is responsible for complying with applicable laws and maintaining any insurance appropriate to their independent business activities.
Is responsible for safely determining where they may lawfully access and photograph the project.
Nothing in the assignment creates an employer-employee relationship, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship between GrantWorks and the contractor.
Qualifications
No construction experience is required.
You should have:
A smartphone or digital camera capable of taking clear, high-resolution photographs.
Reliable transportation to the project location.
Ability to follow simple written photo instructions.
Ability to upload photographs electronically.
Good judgment regarding personal safety and property-access restrictions.
Payment
A fixed fee of $150 per successfully completed assignment, unless a different amount is specified in the individual assignment.
Payment covers the completed photographic documentation assignment rather than hours worked. Contractors are responsible for their own transportation and ordinary expenses unless otherwise stated.
