We are in search of an experienced Game Writer/Narrative Designer that will help us set up the plot for our second game.

About us

We are a small indie studio passionate about creating captivating monster-taming RPGs. After the success of our first game, which garnered well over a million players, we’re embarking on an exciting journey to develop its sequel. Our world is filled with intriguing towns, expansive areas to explore, and challenging puzzles that promise many hours of single-player gameplay. As we expand our team, we are specifically looking for a Narrative Designer/Game Writer with a strong affinity for storytelling and understanding of player experience within the game.

What will you be working on:

  • Genre: Monster-taming RPG

  • Platforms: Desktop, Console, Mobile

What kind of professional are we looking for?

Collaborative team worker:

  • You are someone who excels in a team setting, engaging in active brainstorming (voice calls), co-writing projects, and shared analytical tasks. You will be working with the main creators of our first game. Furthermore, you work out creative ideas generated in team discussions and refining them into structured, engaging plots.

Understanding of narrative structure:

  • You have the ability to maintain a clear and cohesive overview of main story arcs and narrative design choices.

Understanding of Gameplay Integration:

  • You understand how to create a story which conveys seamlessly into the player's experience, not just by requiring overwhelming lengthy cutscenes. For example by:
    - Visual world building
    - Quests & cutscenes
    - Gameplay mechanics

Rich imagination:

  • You are someone who can conjure up rich, imaginative worlds. Giant bosses, science, and space are part of our narrative.

Taking initiative:

  • You are passionate about the games you work on and demonstrate the ability to take initiative by bringing ideas to the table. You are not afraid to bring constructive criticism and suggest (big) changes if you feel like they’re worth exploring.

Ability to extend upon an existing story:

  • While there’s still a lot of creative freedom, you will be working on a sequel of our first game. Some concepts and mechanics of that game will carry over that you will need to take into consideration.

You have strong content writing skills:

  • Portfolio in game design writing is a plus

Your English level is at least intermediate:

  • English is the working language for the project.

What are your tasks?

  • Analyzing the story in our first game

  • Creating the story arc for the overall game

  • Creating story arcs for characters, bosses, and monster creatures

  • Brainstorming with the team via voice calls, using Miro and Google Docs to explore story decisions

  • Think along with new game mechanics that fit the story

What are the practical details?

We are in search of an individual who can commit to roughly 20 hours weekly for a minimum of two months, or until the completion of the story arcs, whichever comes first.

Our team operates in the Europe (GMT+1) (no office, remote). Working in the same timezone is a plus.

If things go well, we'd like to continue collaborating with you in later stages of the project. Eventually, even working on cutscene setups if you’re open to do so.

How do I sign up?

Does this project sound interesting to you? Send us a message with the following details:

  • What you’ve been working on before, send us your portfolio

  • Why do you think you’re the right person for this project

  • What is your expected hourly rate

  • Your availability, how much time do you estimate to invest in this project

We’ll get back to you as soon as possible! Thank you for your time.
