Job Title:

Genealogical/Document Researcher – Citizenship by Descent for Canada

Job Description:

I am seeking an experienced genealogical/document researcher to locate, request, and assemble official government records to support a citizenship application by descent for Canada. I currently do not have any of the relevant documents in my possession, so the role involves retrieving verified records from U.S. and Canadian sources.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify which vital records (birth, marriage, death, baptism, census, immigration/naturalization) are required to establish lineage.

  • Request and obtain official copies from relevant U.S. state/county offices and Canadian provincial archives.

  • Ensure all documents meet official standards for citizenship applications (apostilles, certified copies, or official transcripts where needed).

  • Track and organize documents in a clear chain of lineage for submission.

  • Provide guidance on document translations if required.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in genealogical research or ancestry document retrieval.

  • Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian vital records systems.

  • Experience obtaining documents for citizenship or immigration applications.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate progress and sources clearly.

Deliverables:

  • Full package of official government documents linking me to my ancestors for citizenship purposes.

  • Clear list of sources, retrieval steps, and any additional documentation required.

  • Guidance on next steps for application submission.

Budget: Flexible — please provide an estimate based on experience.

Timeline: Preferably within 12 weeks, but open to proposals.

Notes:

  • Serious inquiries only.

  • Must respect privacy and confidentiality of personal/family information.

Thank you!
