Grant Writer for a school is responsible for researching, writing, and managing funding applications from government, corporate, and private foundation sources to support school programs, infrastructure, and initiatives. This role ensures that grant-funded projects are in compliance with financial and programmatic requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect Research: Identify and vet new funding opportunities that align with the school's mission is educate youth and adult students in building trades including welding, framing and drywall, concrete masonry, sprinkler and pipe fitters, automotive and advanced manufacturing mechatronics.
  • Proposal Development: Draft and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and budgets.
  • Grant Management & Compliance: Track deadlines, ensure compliance with grantor requirements, and manage post-award reporting.
  • Collaboration: Work with administrative staff to gather project data and create, accurate budgets.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain positive relationships with foundation officers and potential donors.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2–5+ years of experience in grant writing, preferably in a trade-skill post secondary/ nonprofit educational setting.
  • Writing Skills: Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to create persuasive, data-driven narratives.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite, and familiarity with grant databases (e.g., Foundation Directory Online, Grants.gov).
  • Organizational Skills: High-level organization to manage multiple, competing sample grant is essential.
