Native French Editor for English to French Translated Books
We are seeking a native French-speaking editor to review and polish books that have been translated from English into French. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the French language, excellent editorial skills, and experience working with translated texts to ensure linguistic accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and natural flow.
Review and edit translated French manuscripts to ensure:
Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax
Natural and fluent French expression
Consistency in tone and style
Faithful rendering of the original English meaning
Identify and correct awkward phrasing or translation errors
Provide feedback or suggest improvements when needed
Ensure the final version reads as if originally written in French
Requirements:
Native-level fluency in French
Strong proficiency in English to understand source texts
Proven experience in editing French texts, preferably translated works
Excellent attention to detail and editorial judgment
Familiarity with literary style, cultural nuances, and idiomatic expressions
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Experience in literary editing (fiction or non-fiction)
Background in translation, publishing, or linguistics
