Scala Backend Developer

We’re looking for an experienced Scala developer to implement a small, well-scoped backend enhancement in our platform.

Scope & deliverables

Add/modify one REST endpoint in a Scala service (Play Framework preferred; Akka HTTP also fine).
Implement business logic to transform and validate payloads.
Integrate with PostgreSQL via a simple repository (CRUD + 1 custom query).
Provide unit tests and a short README explaining how to run locally with sbt test and sbt run.
Create a lightweight CI step (GitHub Actions or GitLab CI) to run tests and scalafmt.
Handover: PR with reviewed code, test coverage report, and brief change log.

Tech stack (our environment)

Scala 2.13/3, sbt
Play Framework or Akka HTTP
Cats / Cats-Effect (optional but nice)
PostgreSQL (JDBC/Doobie/Slick—your choice, keep it simple)
JSON (circe or Play JSON)
Docker for local DB (optional)

What we provide

Example payloads + OpenAPI/Swagger snippet
Test DB schema and sample data

What we expect from you

3+ years building production services in Scala
Clean code, idiomatic FP or pragmatic style, with tests
Clear communication and on-time delivery
Ability to suggest small improvements (error handling, logging, config)
