As the principal expert, you will lead the valuation of high-quality, large uncut tanzanite rough, exemplified by a 14.39-carat specimen. Your role involves providing authoritative appraisals, strategic market positioning advice, and cutting potential assessments to optimize the gemstone’s value and appeal.

Core Responsibilities  

Conduct detailed evaluations of color zoning, clarity features, and potential yield for faceting to inform valuation and cutting decisions
Prepare comprehensive appraisal reports featuring high-resolution images, precise weight, volume metrics, and quality assessments
Benchmark valuations against current auction results, wholesale market data, and industry trends
Recommend optimal cutting strategies aimed at enhancing color depth, clarity, and overall gemstone brilliance
Collaborate with mining operators, supply chain partners, and provenance verification agencies to confirm ethical sourcing and origin authenticity


MUST HAVE Key Qualifications  

Graduate Gemologist diploma (GIA, SSEF, or equivalent) with specialized experience in colored gemstone appraisal
At least 8 years of experience valuing high-value rough gemstones (10+ carats), with a focus on tanzanite or similar stones
MUST HAVE Appraisal Credentials and Recognition
In-depth knowledge of tanzanite mining regions, treatment processes, and current global market price trends
Demonstrated ability to produce well-founded, client-ready valuation reports that withstand scrutiny
Excellent presentation and communication skills for technical audiences, collectors, and stakeholders
