Freelance Technical Writer – Flood mitigation - Legacy Structure Reports (Canada-Based)

Overview:
Seeking a detail-oriented technical writer to assist with preparing Legacy Structure Reports for a flood mitigation infrastructure inventory project. Structures include berms, culverts, ditches, lift stations, retaining ponds, and house relocations.

 Responsibilities:
Review historical records (e.g., engineering reports, emails) and summarize key information in a structured Word report template (similar to the attachment).
Use AI tools to assist with summarization and quality control.
Draft inquiry emails to confirm regulatory compliance.
Add structure locations to a GIS map and fill in data fields (training provided; no prior GIS experience required).

Requirements:
Experience in technical or report writing (engineering/environmental preferred).
Strong research and summarization skills.
Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
Comfortable using AI tools for writing and research support.
Must have:
Microsoft Word and Excel.
A computer with at least 20 GB of free storage to install QGIS and open large imagery files (up to 8 GB).
Willingness to learn basic GIS mapping steps (training provided).

 Deliverables:
Completed Legacy Structure Reports (Word format) - see Sample Report.docx (attached).
Mapped structure locations with associated data entries.
