We are seeking an experienced VB.NET programmer proficient in Visual Studio 2019 with SAP Crystal Reports and GitHub installed.
Tasks include developing new screens, writing financial algorithms and creating reports, as well as rewriting some remaining legacy VB6 code. You must have experience accessing both Jet (access .mdb) and MySQL database from VB.NET. You will be a part of the ongoing migration to rewrite all database access code to use the MySQL database, replacing the Jet Database completely.
The ideal candidate will have years of experience developing business applications, generating reports and accessing databases with VB.NET. Familiarity with GitHub for source code management is essential to ensure smooth collaboration and version control. Experience using Docker to create a MySQL container is a plus. Experience with AWS services is also a plus.
You must pay close attention to small details and deliver well organized and tested code. Our application is financial in nature, which means there is no room for error. You must be willing to communicate frequently (daily) on your progress and work as part of a small team where code design decisions are discussed and collaborated on. We are not looking for an overly independent individual who wants to work in a vacuum. We want someone who is willing to draw from the 30 years of experience of other team members (which is how long this application has been around). In addtion we want someone who takes full advantage of AI (like Copilot, Chat GPT, Gemini) where possible to deliver basic programming tasks faster and cheaper.
