Web App for Used Car Price Analysis

Project Overview
We are looking for an experienced developer to build a web-based application that helps us evaluate whether a used car is profitable to buy and resell.
The tool should automate the current manual workflow:
Extract vehicle data from a source listing (URL or uploaded file)
Search for comparable cars on marketplaces
Estimate the market price
Calculate expected resale margin
Generate a clear “Buy / Consider / Do Not Buy” recommendation
This is a data-driven application combining scraping, APIs, and business logic.


Core Features (MVP)
Vehicle Input
Input via URL (car listing)
Upload Excel / CSV file with vehicle specs
Manual input form
Vehicle Data Extraction
Parse and structure vehicle details:
(brand, model, year, mileage, fuel, transmission, etc.)
API Integration
Integrate with RDW (Dutch vehicle data API)
Optional: vehicle history providers (future phase)
Marketplace Data Collection
Retrieve comparable listings from platforms such as:
AutoScout.nl
Gaspedaal.nl
Marktplaats.nl
IMPORTANT: Use APIs where available, otherwise compliant scraping
Matching & Analysis
Find comparable vehicles based on filters
Calculate:
Average price
Min / max / median
Confidence level
Profitability Calculation
Estimate resale price
Calculate margin (buy vs sell price)
Include optional cost factors
Recommendation Engine
Output:
Buy
Consider
Do Not Buy
Reporting
Dashboard view
Export to PDF or Excel


Tech Requirements (Preferred)
Backend:
Python (preferred) or Node.js
Experience with APIs and data processing
Scraping / Automation:
Strong experience with:
Playwright / Puppeteer / Selenium / Scrapy
Ability to handle dynamic websites
Frontend:
Basic UI (React, Vue, or similar)
Database:
PostgreSQL or MySQL


IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT
You must have proven experience with web scraping and data extraction from multiple websites.
This project depends heavily on:
extracting structured data from listings
handling different website structures
building a reliable data pipeline


Nice to Have
Experience with marketplaces or price comparison tools
Experience with data analysis / pricing algorithms
Experience with Docker or cloud deployment
