Shield Bar Marketing is seeking an English-speaking WordPress developer that can implement security updates to our client WordPress sites while maintaining confidentiality, security, and best practices in development each month.
Contractor must sign a confidentiality and data protection agreement prior to access. Client data, website content, and internal communications must not be shared or stored outside of our approved systems and may not be shared with any 3rd party.
Requires your own computer setup with fast and reliable internet connection. Experience with WordPress updates and problem solving for any issues with those updates. Most sites use Divi content builder, but a few are Elementor. We use WPMU to monitor WP websites and updates required.
Developer must be proficient in troubleshooting common post-update issues (e.g., PHP errors, CSS/JS conflicts, theme/plugin incompatibilities) and be able to resolve them independently or escalate appropriately.
You would be responsible for all website security updates to Wordpress and the plugins they have. We would require that after each update is done, a full check of the website is done to ensure that no functionality or graphics were broken. If they were broken, the developer would be responsible to fix and communicate proactively with our team immediately so we can keep our clients apprised of maintenance work. In the event of critical errors or downtime resulting from an update, contractor must notify our internal team within 1 hour and halt work on additional sites until a resolution is agreed upon.
A full backup of the site must be taken before any updates are applied, using our standard backup plugin or hosting backup feature.
There are a total of 50 websites currently that need regular WP and plugin security updates each month. If we add more websites to this, we will notify you and we can relook at compensation amount.
Each website should take no more than 30 minutes of time per month to complete the updates and if they do, we require a notification prior to work and communication of what would take longer. On average across all 50 sites, it currently takes a developer about 25-30 hours 1x per month to complete the updates.
We would provide all necessary site-specific logins/access. Tasks are managed through Asana for each site to be updated. We also provide a Slack channel for answering and discussing with our team any issues as well as regular status updates. Each Asana ticket will need to be updated monthly with what security updates were done and then that ticket completed so the system will generate the next month's recurring task automatically.
This is a monthly contract position paid upon satisfactory completion of work. Invoices should be submitted upon completion of each cycle. Continued engagement is based on performance and responsiveness.
Initial engagement will begin with a 1-month paid trial to assess technical ability, communication, and adherence to our processes.
