Wordpress Plugin for Recollector

I am seeking an experienced WordPress plugin developer to build a custom plugin that imports a Recollector XML backup file and automatically creates WordPress posts for each item in the file.
Recollector is a collection cataloging application:

The goal is to allow easy migration of collection data from Recollector into WordPress.

Core Plugin Requirements
The plugin must:
Allow admin to upload a Recollector XML file via the WordPress dashboard
Parse the XML and extract item data
Automatically create a WordPress post for each item
Support custom post type (please see sample attached map page.jpg)
Map XML fields to:
Post title
Post content
Custom fields (post meta)
Featured image (if present in XML)

Additional Required Features
These are essential parts of the project:
✅ Category Creation
If the Recollector file contains a category field:
Automatically create WordPress categories (or custom taxonomy if recommended)
Assign imported posts to the correct categories
✅ Field Mapping Interface
The plugin must:
Read and preload all available field names from the uploaded Recollector XML
Display these fields in the admin UI
Allow the admin to choose which fields to include or exclude from the import
Example: checkboxes or similar interface to enable/disable individual fields
This gives full control over which data appears on the final WordPress posts.

Admin Interface Requirements
Clean UI inside WordPress admin
Features should include:
XML upload tool
Auto-detection of available fields
Field inclusion/exclusion controls
Import button
Import status / success / error messages
(Optional but preferred) Import log
Technical Expectations
Clean, secure, well-structured plugin code
Follows WordPress coding standards
No reliance on paid third-party plugins
Compatible with latest WordPress version
Secure file upload handling
Efficient XML parsing (large files should not crash site)

Fully working WordPress plugin
Installation instructions
Usage instructions
Basic documentation of features
Source code ownership transferred upon completion
