3D Designer (Art and Modeling)

$30/hr Starting at $30

I am a video game asset designer who focuses on prop creation in the field of environment art. My journey to this career has been anything but traditional, but through everything my love of video game art and creation has blossomed. Before returning to school for my BA in Game Art and Design, I served four years in the US Navy as a Cryptologist. Once out, I dabbled in everything from Security to Landscaping. My search for my passion brought me to Maine where I became involved in design, first as an AutoCADD Technician for a survey company then as a 3D Electrical Marine Designer for a naval design company. Finally, I became a 3D modeler for a Passiv House company.  This work fostered within me a love of design, and I decided to make game art and design my career.  One of my greatest strengths is my ability to adapt to new software and I use this skill to bring new software and innovation to my designs.   In the realm of game design, I truly find passion and joy in creating the assets that "make a game." I love the small details, from the trash can on the corner to the loot chest.  As I create assets and build my portfolio, I find myself growing stronger in the realms of lighting and rendering, as these truly make an asset stand out.  The assets in my portfolio show a wide range of abilities.  In addition to multiple props, I demonstrate character and creature design, as well as a completely original, self-modeled UnReal level.  I believe in being a well-rounded artist as in this field it is important to wear quite a few hats.  While my focus is prop design, I am equally comfortable creating dynamic characters, creatures, and rigging assets for animation. Additionally I am proficient in graphic design and technology application. A game artist should be ever growing and adapting, and I am continually tweaking and revisiting these models.  I am always up for a new challenge and I often create models as a challenge to myself to continue honing my skills.  While a game designer should be versatile, I think it is important to demonstrate your passion, and I hope you can see my passion for prop design. In addition to my work as a designer, I teach classes in Photoshop and design. I am an independent technology consultant to who with companies to train on and use software.
