sister Angel after his death at 34 as she touches on his addictions: 'I just kept waiting for him to snap out of it'

Aaron Carter's long struggle with addiction has been remembered by his heartbroken twin sister Angel.

At the beginning of last November, Aaron's housekeeper found him dead at home aged 34 of what the coroner ruled was an accidental overdose. An autopsy has since revealed that the actor and singer drowned in the bath after consuming Xanax and huffing, TMZ reported. In an extraordinary intervention in April, prior to the publication of the autopsy results, Aaron's mother Jane put out a grisly set of pictures of the scene of his death and insisted he was the victim of a crime rather than an overdose.

Angel has now informed People she has not talked to Jane since the photos went out, a move she described as 'a true invasion of privacy and something that Aaron would’ve never wanted the public to see. Aaron dying was the worst possible outcome for all of us. My brother deserves to be here.'

She devastatingly looked back on Aaron's years of drug problems, which followed a childhood 'filled with emotional abuse, dysfunction and addiction,' she said.

Aaron, who leaves behind a one-year-old son Prince by his fiancée Melanie Martin, led a life blighted by substance abuse, racking up multiple arrests and rehab stints.

Angel, who held possession of Aaron's ashes between the cremation and the ceremony when they were interred, used to cling to hope that he would recover.

She had to restrain herself from crying as she remembered: 'I just kept waiting for him to snap out of it. But he never did.'

Aaron plunged even further into his addictions after his sister Leslie died in 2012 of a prescription drug overdose at the age of just 25.

The family tragedies came thick and fast for Aaron, who also lost his father Robert Carter to an apparent heart attack in 2017.

In the rehab trip he underwent after his father's demise, the doctors deduced that Aaron was suffering from multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia.

Angel shared in her new interview that she feels 'the beginning of the end' for Aaron was the shattering losses of Leslie and Robert. 'Aaron was already in a bad place, but it was like a domino effect,
