Accountant/Project Manager

$50/hr Starting at $50

The first half of my career I did Accounting work including auditing for the state tax commission, tax preparation for both public accounting firms and private corporations. I also taught various tax classes for the tax agency. In all positions I was asked to serve in IT roles. Eventually, I was asked to be the project manager for the development of accounting and tax systems. Feeling overwhelmed at this new responsibility, I went back to college and completed a Master's Degree in Information Systems MSMIS. I have spent the second half of my career marrying the accounting with the project management role in developing accounting and tax based applications. I have worked with both US and off shore based groups, for US and International laws, accounting, and development in both waterfall and Agile development cycles. The use of cost benefits analysis is very useful in determining the viability of pursuing potential projects. What may seem a wise business choice up front, can prove not lucrative either prior to starting or upon review. Companies that are not paying attention to this review find themselves quickly outpaced in today's competitive market. One of my favorite positions was when I worked as problem resolution for the state tax authority. The opportunity to assist individuals resolve their problems was rewarding. The chance to participate in the analysis of legislation and the interpretation for the administration of law was fascinating. And the challenge to keep up with all facets of the position was invigorating!
