The Republican Party in the United States has promised its Democratic counterpart if they win a majority in the House and Senate during this year's crucial midterm elections, which take place in November.

These threats come a day after former US President Donald Trump's home in Florida was raided in search of documents that the Justice Department believes Trump took from the White House.

Trump allies in the House and Senate said the raid on Trump's home was aimed at sidelining Trump as a potential candidate for president in 2024."When Republicans get the House back, we'll immediately oversight this Department (Department of Justice), follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned," House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy said on Twitter shortly after Trump revealed the raid Monday night."Keep your documents and clear your calendar," Attorney General Merrick Garland added.Republicans would prefer to win a majority in the House of Representatives, and have a chance to win back the Senate, in the November 8 midterm elections.

Republican Representative Verne Buchanan pledged on Twitter that "political targeting is the hallmark of Banana Republic, not the United States." He added, "House Republicans will exercise strong oversight next year."Senator John Barrasso, chairman of the party convention, said, "The break-in in the home of a former president is unprecedented. The Department of Justice needs to tell the American people why it happened quickly and transparently."
