Attica corrections officer suspended ove

$25/hr Starting at $25

A longtime officer at Attica Correctional Facility has been suspended and may be fired over “vile” Facebook posts joking about the mass shooting in Buffalo.

The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision said it has suspended Gregory Foster II without pay pending an investigation into the posts, which were shared with The Daily News by a Rochester resident Tuesday.

The woman, who wanted only her first name used, said she and her friends saw the posts and the responses by other corrections officers.

Paula said she called Attica to complain and was referred to DOCCS, which said it would investigate

It did and Foster, of Arcade, was suspended.

“The comments made by this correction officer are despicable, stand in violation of multiple department rules and will not be tolerated,” DOCCS said in a press release. “This vile posting does not represent the morals and values of thousands of staff members in the department.”

DOCCS also said it has contacted a civil rights task force for possible criminal prosecution but did not explain what that meant.

A phone number for Foster was out of service and his Facebook page was no longer visible.

Foster’s post was a meme showing a photograph of a Tops store with a caption making light of the shooting that left 10 people dead and three critically injured.

“Too soon?” Foster comments on his post. “This should weed out some FB friends (laughing emoji).”
