As a recent graduate of the University of Alabama with BA's in both English and Spanish and a minor in Creative Writing, I have academic training and real world experience in writing and editing in both the English and Spanish languages. My time spent on
the writing staffs of Fiction, Poetry, and Copy Writing at Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society’s magazine, "Dewpoint", has equipped me with editorial experience in the poetry, fiction, and nonfiction writing. My Senior Honors Thesis on the sociological implications for the female characters in Margaret Atwood’s, "The Handmaid’s Tale," required meticulous proofreading, research, and analytical writing skills. My previous professional experience as an intern in the press shop of United States Senator Roy Blunt required strong written and interpersonal communication skills, as I maintained his social media presence, wrote memorandums, crafted constituent letters, and updated website content and design. As a Project Manager Intern with CIFAL Atlanta, I utilized communication and administrative skills alongside my Spanish language acumen, as I assisted in planning two major initiatives in Spanish speaking countries, The Airport Economic Development Conference in the Dominican Republic, and The Americas Competitiveness Forum in Panama. In this role I wrote personalized invitations to prospective participants both in English and Spanish, spoke primarily in Spanish when planning transportation, dining, and lodging for constituents via phone and email, created informational materials for conference participants in both English and Spanish, and attended meetings with Spanish speakers from the Atlanta community and around the world. I am passionate about helping individuals and organizations use the power of the written word to express their ideas and goals through clear, compelling language.
