Report: The Rise and Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Date: December 20, 2025 Subject: General Overview of AI in Everyday Life

Author : Naren Gupta

Introduction

Artificial Intelligence, commonly known as AI, refers to computer systems designed to perform tasks that usually require human intelligence. This includes things like recognizing speech, making decisions, and translating languages. Rather than just following set rules, AI learns from large amounts of data to improve over time. In other terms it can also defined as Artificial Intelligence (AI) means computer systems that can do tasks which usually need human thinking, like understanding speech, making decisions, or recognizing pictures.

How AI Works

At its core, AI works by looking for patterns. Imagine showing a computer thousands of pictures of cats. Eventually, the computer learns the "pattern" of what a cat looks like so it can identify one in a new photo. This process is often called Machine Learning.

Usage Of AI in Our Day-to-Day Life

Most people use AI every day without even realizing it. Common examples included as:

Virtual Assistants: Tools like Siri or Alexa that understand your voice.

Recommendations: Netflix or YouTube suggesting movies based on what you’ve watched before.

Navigation: Google Maps calculating the fastest route by analyzing live traffic data.

Writing Tools: Features that autocorrect your spelling or help you draft emails.

  ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES ON AI

Advantages of AI

Speed and Efficiency: AI can finish repetitive tasks much faster than humans.

24/7 Availability: Unlike people, AI doesn’t get tired and can work all the time.

Accuracy: AI can reduce mistakes in areas like medical diagnosis or calculations.

Safety: AI can be used in dangerous jobs, such as exploring deep oceans or handling hazardous materials.

Convenience: Everyday tools like Google Maps, autocorrect, or online recommendations make life easier.

Disadvantages of AI

Job Loss: Some traditional jobs may be replaced by machines, leading to unemployment.

Privacy Issues: AI needs a lot of data, which can raise concerns about personal information.

Bias: If AI is trained on unfair data, it can make unfair decisions.

Cost: Building and maintaining AI systems can be expensive.

Dependence: People may rely too much on AI and lose some problem-solving skills.

Conclusion

AI is no longer a concept from science fiction; it is a practical tool that is changing how we work and live. While there are valid concerns about privacy and jobs, the goal of AI is generally to act as a "helper" that makes our lives more convenient and productive.AI is a powerful tool that is changing how we live and work. It brings many benefits like speed, safety, and convenience, but also challenges such as job changes and privacy risks. The key is to use AI responsibly and balance its advantages with its disadvantages. As we move forward, the focus will be on using AI responsibly and ethically.
