I took classes in logic, philosophy, and Rhetoric back in school and developed a love of writing through them. I've had the opportunity to develop complex research papers and dabble in creative writing. Creative writing allows us to transport the reader to another world imparting wisdom along the way. I believe it was JRR Tolkien who said that the purpose of escapist writing is to escape in the way that a prisoner is apt to- to pull ourselves from the depths of ignorance towards the light of truth, and I believe that same sentiment applies to creative writing.
