I take jobs based on whether they interest me and I can fit them into my schedule, my hourly rate depends on whether work requires design (Concept creation + Cad) skills $40/hr or just simple cad modeling $25/hr and my rate rate for thermal or structural analysis is $55/hr. For projects that requires all 3 skills I will quote a single project cost. I take projects based on whether they are interesting/challenging to me and/or I think they are straightforward enough that I can easily fit them into my schedule.
