Development of the protection against violence Act was started in 1965. The purpose of the act is to protect the victims of Domestic Violence.It can come in different forms ;economic form -individuals lack job opportunities to provide for their families, psychological form -those who go through the experience undergo psychological torture . Cynthia Liavule from judiciary presented on protection against domestic rules as follows; They aim at the operationalization of the protection against Domestic Violence Act ,2015.They provide for the practice,procedure and forms for use in matters related to the protection and relief of victims of domestic violence. The jurisdiction for proceedings under the protection against Domestic violence (PADV) Act is vested in the Resident Magistrate's court. The victims can report the matter to the police who will assist them to fill out a prescribed form 1 which is on "Information on Domestic Violence".The police will be required to hand in filled prescribed form to court within 24hrs. The application for a protection order may be made by the victim/complaint or a representative where one wishes to represent them or where the complainant authorizes such representative. The representative will be required to fill form 6 in order to be appointed as representative of the Victim. "When a party applies for a protection order against you,you can choose to respond to a request of protection order by filling in the prescribed form 5" Cynthia lauville said. A party dissatisfied by a protection order may apply to court for its variation or discharge. Protection order issued by court shall be served to the respondents within 7 days .Application under the Act shall be disposed of within 60 days. A respondent or applicant may appeal the decision to the high court on protection order within 30 days of the issuance date of the order. Edna Oduwo legal officer presented on forms for use in matters related to the protection of victims of domestic violence as follows; Form 1 : Information form - contains all the information against domestic violence. Form 2 :register form - for the purposes of storage of data. Form 3: filled when applying for protection order. Form 4: Notice to show cause. Form 5:application for protection order response. Form 6: it is filled by a representative Form 7: gives an authority to representative to represent a victim. Form 8: Gives the victim an opportunity to revoke the consent. Form 9: filled by a representative when it gets to appoint there is conflict of intrest. Form 10: filled by member of parliament. Form 11: filled by the victim to change or cancel a protection order. Luciana Ndila , county director gender affairs said that issues of counseling not paid attention in terms of violence as it affects the victims mentally and psychologically . " Kitui county has few counselors to facilitate counselling", she said. Domestic Violence has become world problem and she lamented such acts to be held wel
