I am an experienced writer, editor and proof reader in the English language.

 My strengths are: 

* I am quick to spot spelling and grammatical errors (and of course correct them) 

* I am able to spot gaps in the narrative - and pose queries to the writer for clarification 

* I can rewrite copy wherever needed, but if it reads fine I let it go -- (the thumb rule in editing is never interfere with the author's language unless necessary)

 * I can quickly edit and proof read copy. 

A few words about myself: I have  been a journalist for over 25 years in India --  working with two major English language news agencies, an English news magazine and also worked with an English language publishing house. 

All this has helped me hone my skills considerably, as a writer, editor and proof reader. My being a stickler for correct spellings and grammar has ensured that I always wrote error-free copy. 

Accuracy matters: During my long stint as a reporter I have taken down notes during speeches by prominent persons, including the Prime Minister, to turn it into stories for the media organizations where I worked.  

I have worked on the news Desk for many years, where I had to edit and polish copy, as well as rewrite, besides adding necessary background material, and cross-checking facts.  

I have had a stint with a publishing house as Commissioning Editor. I have honed my skill as an assessor of manuscripts. I am quite good at book editing. I ensure that the writing style of the author is kept intact, and intervene only where necessary to correct the grammar, spellings, and cross check facts continuously.
