I have thirty years experience as an editor and technical writer. My principal client (and eventually my employer) is the Appraisal Institute in Chicago, Illinois. My duties included working with appraisal practitioners to create textbooks and instructor manuals used to educate professional appraisers. I was responsible for researching topics, consulting with professionals, creating copy, editing copy, working with editorial and production staff to produce finished manuscript. I also participated in premiere offerings of each of over 25 courses to make corrections and adjustments based on the effectiveness of the material in the classroom setting. I have excellent skills in written and verbal communication and am proficient in the use of Microsoft Word as a writing and editing tool. I have an M.A. degree in English, have taught literature and composition at the college level, have excellent research skills, and am skilled in using several style manuals.
