Writing & Translation

Editor, proofreader, translator, writer

$16/hr Starting at $30

I am a professional freelance writer and, as my title describes, am a person of many talents. When I'm not freelancing I am working full time as an editor and page designer for a local newspaper. I graduated Cum Laude from my university where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing with minors in publishing and editing as well as Spanish. I was a head editor for an on-campus magazine that published genre fiction and we regularly held workshops to help young writers get constructive feedback on their work. I also helped, both as a reading board member and as an editor, with other on-campus publications throughout my four years. I have designed, edited, and written my own memoir chapbook that I had worked on throughout my college years. I have a pretty firm grasp on programs like InDesign and Photoshop because of that experience as well as working at my local newspaper. I have also worked in a classroom setting and one on one with middle school students for two years during the summers. I am passionate about a number of topic and at the very top of that list is language. In my junior year, when I added my Spanish minor, I was deciding where to study abroad and landed on Spain. I studied in Sevilla for three and a half weeks and lived with a host mom who spoke no English. Not only did I gain a greater grasp for the language but I also developed compassion for those learning a second language. In the professional realm, I have worked for a lifestyle magazine and have helped a local museum edit a history book to celebrate their centennial anniversary. I had an absolute blast doing it and have discovered that my true passions lie in editing, writing, language, and cultures.
