Developing high level system design and requirements, identification of components based on design and cost, spec sheet review, design calculations and simulation, early prototyping of subsystems to test key assumptions and risks. Review cost and performance tradeoffs of leveraging MCU peripherals versus dedicated analog and/or digital ICs. Working knowledge of I2C, SPI, Serial, USB, TCP/IP protocols. C programming of low level interfaces as well as higher level signal processing, fixed point calculations, HSV to RGB LED color mapping, PWM dimming. Analog or digital interface and processing of image and light sensors, temperature sensors, current sensing. Populating and testing SMT prototype boards using a stencil, solder paste, populating and reflow soldering. MCU Architectures: 8 bit from NXP, Atmel, 32-bit ARM Cortex M3, M4, M7 from NXP, STM, Cypress PSOC C, ARM Cortex assembly, Verilog (basic), Python (basic), HTML (basic). GIT source code management, MBED libraries. Usage of Oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators Supplier experience: Mouser, Digikey, Newark, OSH Park, OSH Stencils, Itead.
