Position Description:                                                                                                                                           Grow With Trees is seeking an English-Spanish translator to assist with translation of both printed and web based plant identification field guides, many of which include botanical terms as well as technical information about integrated vegetation management.

Level of Effort, Duration, & Ideal Start Date: 

• Translate a plant identification field guide consisting of over 100 pages and a web application containing a database of more than 250 plants from English to Spanish (Latin America). 
• This contract position is for the duration of the project, estimated to be four months from start to end.
• Onboarding will begin in August 2022. 

Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                                                              

• Translate text from plant identification field guide and web application from English to Spanish (Latin America)
• Directly input translated text into Adobe InDesign or Acrobat documents
• Work closely with Grow With Trees staff, subject matter experts, and contractors to successfully create bilingual resources and tools
• Work independently and provide weekly updates to Grow With Trees team

Qualifications:                                                                                                                                                  

• Fluent in English and Spanish (Latin America) with an extensive vocabulary in both languages       
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, linguistics or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Certification from a professional translation/linguistic association (preferred)

Special Skills / Knowledge:   

• Familiarity with botanical and technical vegetation management terms in both English and Spanish (Latin America)
• Ability to use excellent Spanish (Latin America) grammar to provide precise, sensible translation
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office suite
• Familiarity with web-based applications (preferred)
• Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented
• Ability to work independently 
• Strong written communication skills
• Avoid adding extra words or expressions to translations

In Addition, the Ideal Candidate Will Have:                                                                                                                

• Experience developing videos using Vyond and Adobe Premiere
